In this article I will give you a walkthrough on how to place a buy order. I have labeled the screenshots with numbers as reference.
First, I go to the trading tab (1) and select the currency pair I would like to trade (2). I want to trade Bitcoin for Ethereum so I select ETH/BTC (3).
Before I place my buy order it might be helpful to see what is happening in the market. One way to do this is to look at the Order Book and see what other orders are currently waiting to be filled. In this example there is a sell order which is looking to sell 0.00677877 ETH (10) at the price of 0.043646 BTC (11).
To place my buy order, I need to go to the Buy and Sell section and click on Buy ETH (9).
First I enter the amount I want to buy (13). In this example I put the amount 0.00677877 ETH to match the amount in the sell order (10). Next I enter my bid (14), to do this I copy the asking price from the order book (11) and paste it into the bid area.
Now that I have entered the amount of ETH I am looking to buy and my bid price, I can see how much BTC will be remaining in my BTC wallet after this trade has been completed (12). I can also see my bid price in USD [or your preferred currency] (15), the trading fee applied to trade (16), and the total BTC I am spending (17).
Now I click "Buy ETH" and my order is sent off. Because my order matched with one already in the order book, it went through instantly. I can see the status of my orders in the My Orders tab (8).
And that's it! Remember, crypto asset transactions cannot be reversed once they have been completed. Please ensure you’ve entered the correct transaction details before placing any orders.
